Adult Dance Classes

We are pleased to offer Adult classes for experienced dancers and beginners alike.

Turning Point Dance is the perfect balance of finessing technique, complemented by a pure love of dance. We offer Adult beginner and intermediate classes in ballet and contemporary dance. 

Dance helps improve tone, flexibility and strength. We all come in different shapes and sizes and levels of ability. We cater for beginners to the more advanced dancers. What you choose to wear for classes is your choice, we want you to feel comfortable and confident. 

Our aim is for you to have fun and enjoy the freedom of movement to beautiful music at the same time developing technique, new skills and strength.

Whether you are a former dancer or dance student who misses moving to music, looking to regain that feeling of flexibility, strength and great posture, or you are a beginner looking to try something new and challenging; Turning Point Dance has something for you!

BALLET

Classical ballet classes are devised for a variety of standards from beginner to experienced. A great way to increase or maintain fitness, flexibility and strength, improving musicality as well as providing an outlet for creative expression. Daytime and evening classes available:

BALLET FOUNDATION CLASS

This class will cover posture and correct alignment, positions of arms and feet, foot articulation, outward rotation, plies and simple sequencing. In addition, ballet terminology is taught and the technical requirements of each movement. This class is for all adult students who wish to strengthen and re-establish the basics and is an essential warm-up for a pointe class.

This class is suitable for adults aged 16 years and over.

LEVEL ONE BALLET

Level One Ballet class is aimed at participants with a basic knowledge of ballet technique who wish to add to and or progress from our Ballet Foundation class. You will learn stronger postural alignment and a readiness to learn more complex steps, sequences and advanced turning and jump combinations while beginning to link movements together from the barre to the centre.

This class is suitable for adults aged 16 years and over.

LEVEL TWO BALLET

For the more experienced Ballet dancer, this class will challenge your endurance, musicality and coordination with longer and more complicated sequences at the 'barre' and throughout centre practice. Ballet Level 2 will give you an excellent opportunity to stretch and strengthen while maintaining and improving your ballet technique.

This class is suitable for students who want to take their ballet to the next level.

This class is suitable for adults aged 16 years and over.

ADVANCED OPEN BALLET CLASS

This advanced class is a challenging and more advanced class for those confident in understanding ballet technique and principles. This class is suitable for students who have studied full-time ballet, completed RAD Adv or similar syllabus, ballet teachers, and professional and ex-professional dancers.

This class is suitable for adults aged 16 and over.

POINTE LEVEL ONE & TWO

This 30 minute class follows the Ballet Foundations class, and students must be attending the Level One or Two Ballet class and have the necessary strength, core stability and ballet technique.

CONTEMPORARY

A more modern style of dance that, while still structured and focusing on the fundamentals of dance technique and alignment, allows a freer movement style without the same strict physical demands on the body as classical ballet. All ages and experience levels are welcome.
