SCHOOL RECOGNITION & VET PATHWAY

EmpowerDance Certificates are nationally recognised VET qualifications under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Because these courses are delivered through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), they may be eligible to contribute credits toward a student’s senior school qualification, including the SACE in South Australia (or the equivalent in other states), subject to school approval and successful course completion.

This means that the training students complete at Turning Point Dance as part of their Certificate pathway may be formally recognised as a legitimate vocational subject within their school program.
Families are advised to confirm eligibility directly with their school’s VET Coordinator or Careers Counsellor.

FAQ – FOR PARENTS CONSIDERING THE CERTIFICATE PATHWAY

Does my child have to be enrolled at Turning Point Dance to do a Certificate?

Yes. Students must be actively enrolled and training at Turning Point Dance in order to complete the practical component of their Certificate.

Who issues the actual qualification?

All Certificates are issued by EmpowerDance, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Turning Point Dance provides the practical studio training and mentoring but does not issue the Certificate.

Can this count toward my child’s school qualification (SACE)?

Yes — because these are nationally recognised VET qualifications, they may be eligible to count toward SACE (or equivalent), subject to school approval and successful completion. Each school makes its own decision, so families must confirm eligibility with their school’s VET Coordinator.

Who do we pay the Certificate fees to?

All Certificate fees are paid directly to EmpowerDance. Turning Point Dance fees remain separate and cover studio training, classes, and mentoring. https://www.empowerdance.com.au

Is my child guaranteed school credit?

No. While the Certificates are nationally recognised, school credit is determined by the student’s school, not the studio. Completion of the qualification and school approval are both required.

Can my child do the Certificate without attending regular dance classes?

No. Active, ongoing studio training at Turning Point Dance is a requirement of the program.

What age or school year should students be in to begin?

Most Certificate students begin from approximately:

  • Certificate I: ~12 years

  • Certificate II: ~13 years

  • Certificate III: ~14+ years

Exact eligibility should be confirmed with EmpowerDance.

Will my child gain real teaching experience?

Yes. Certificate students working toward teaching pathways will receive supervised class assisting and mentoring, preparing them for professional work in dance educatio
