Private Lessons

Private lessons provide students with individual attention and personalised training that is not always possible in a group class setting. Each session is tailored specifically to the student’s needs, allowing teachers to focus on technical development, strength, alignment, flexibility, musicality and performance quality.

Private lessons accelerate progress, build confidence and self-discipline, and allow time for:

• targeted correction of individual challenges
• extension of stronger students beyond syllabus work
• preparation for exams, competitions, scholarships and performances
• safe and supported progress towards pointe work and advanced technique

Students who take private lessons consistently show faster technical improvement, greater body awareness, and improved results across all of their class work. They also develop a deeper understanding of their training and increased confidence in themselves as dancers.

Why 60-Minute Private Lessons Are Recommended

Private lessons are available in both 30-minute and 60-minute formats, however 60-minute lessons are strongly recommended for students seeking the greatest benefit from their training.

A 60-minute lesson allows sufficient time to properly warm up, work through technical corrections in depth, and develop artistry and performance quality. It also provides the opportunity to combine exam preparation with competition coaching, ensuring students are thoroughly and confidently prepared.

This extended lesson structure is particularly valuable for students who:
• lack confidence and benefit from unhurried, individual support
• are preparing for exams or competitions
• wish to progress more quickly or “get ahead” in their training

While 30-minute lessons remain available for targeted work, families consistently find that the 60-minute lesson offers significantly greater value and the strongest long-term results.

Private Lessons — Strongly Recommended For Students Who Are:

• preparing for exams
• training at an extension level
• working towards pointe work
• seeking professional pathways
• on scholarship or extended training programs

Please note: Students on scholarship are required to take private lessons at less convenient times where necessary.

Private Lessons — Priority Booking

Private lessons booked now will receive priority when allocating lesson times.
Priority is also given to students who book for the full year or who have consistently held private lessons.
