Sharlene Morgante

Dance and Movement Educator
Originally from Adelaide, Sharlene began her dance training in both classical and contemporary styles under Helen Beinke. At the age of 15, she joined the Adelaide Dance Company under the artistic direction of Rex Reid AM and Helen Beinke, touring across South Australia and Victoria for two years.
She later moved to Melbourne to pursue full-time training at The National Theatre Ballet School, where she achieved notable success, including winning the prestigious Commonwealth Cup adjudicated by the late Kelvin Coe. Sharlene was also named a finalist in the City of Sydney Peter Styvesant Classical Scholarship and won both the SASDS Open Classical Scholarship and the RAD Advanced/Overall Award, adjudicated by Marilyn Rowe.
With over four decades of teaching experience, Sharlene has taught at respected institutions such as the Australian Ballet School, Brent Street, Dance Arts, CBDS, and for renowned educators including Marilyn Jones, Garth Welch, Barbara Chambers, and Tanya Pearson. She also performed professionally, touring Australia and New Zealand with The Phantom of the Opera before a long-term injury led her to explore the Pilates Method as part of her recovery.
This journey into rehabilitation sparked a new professional direction. Sharlene completed the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction in 2010, followed by the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method in 2015. In 2012, she founded Studio Nine Pilates in Melbourne after returning from Macau, China, where she worked with performers from The House of Dancing Water and Cirque du Soleil, specialising in dance conditioning, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.
Sharlene continues to share her expertise as a classical ballet and dance conditioning coach at leading institutions including ACB, ABS, MAPA Australia (Melbourne), and Dance Thrilogy (Singapore). She is also a certified Gyrokinesis® and Gyrotonic® trainer, with a special focus on training pre-professional dancers. Many of her former students have been accepted into elite training programs such as Elmhurst Ballet School, New Zealand School of Dance, San Francisco Ballet School, and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
She holds a Diploma in Dance, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and has completed Module 2 of the Scolio-Pilates program. Sharlene has also worked as an educator and assessor with National Pilates Training and continues to mentor students through her role as an affiliated studio.
Sharlene brings a deep passion for movement education and a holistic, experience-driven approach to teaching, aiming to support the next generation of dancers in developing strength, resilience, and artistry.
